Personal History
When I started teaching The Pilates Method back in 1988 I built my own Universal Reformers. This photo is of the second Reformer I built.
You are looking at the very first “Stretch Reformer” (8ft. long), also the first Reformer with a “Standing Platform”, and if you look closely you will see a “Jumpboard” incorporated into the “Standing Platform” that slides up and locks into place.
Some other “firsts” that this Reformer has are: “Guide Wheels” that ride along the side rails, a “Highbar” setting a little higher than normal, and a “Headrest” that angles down allowing the shoulderstands to be true shoulderstands, not neckstands.
